Our Technology: In-Situ Forming Implants
At Innovarus, we are pioneers in the pharmaceutical landscape, dedicated to advancing patient care through innovative drug delivery systems. Our flagship technology revolves around in-situ forming implants (ISFIs), a groundbreaking approach in sustained-release medication.
What Are In-Situ Forming Implants?
In-situ forming implants are injectable systems that form a solid or semi-solid depot within the body after administration. This technology involves the injection of a liquid formulation that transitions into a solid implant once in contact with body fluids. This unique property allows for a minimally invasive delivery that slowly releases medication over an extended period, ranging from one month to a year, depending on the formulation.
How It Works
Our ISFI technology utilizes biodegradable polymers dissolved in biocompatible solvents. Upon injection, the body’s aqueous environment triggers the polymer to precipitate, forming a cohesive implant. The drug is then released at a controlled rate as the polymer matrix degrades, ensuring consistent therapeutic levels without the peaks and troughs typical of conventional dosing methods.
Benefits of In-Situ Forming Implants
- Reduced Administration Frequency: Patients benefit from fewer injections, enhancing compliance and improving overall treatment experiences.
- Enhanced Stability and Efficacy: By maintaining consistent drug levels, ISFIs reduce the risk of side effects associated with fluctuating dosages.
- Minimally Invasive: The need for surgical implantation is eliminated, reducing the risk of infection and complications associated with invasive procedures.
